These 7 new foods are coming to the Green Bay Packers' game day menu at Lambeau Field

GREEN BAY - Sausage bourbon jam might make everything better.

It definitely made a bratwurst covered in the smoky sweet blend the star of the rookie foods joining the Green Bay Packers game day menu this year at Lambeau Field.

It's a relatively small group this year, with seven items dominated by Johnsonville products, including two bratwurst creations, a quesadilla and a pair of pierogies ingredients that include sausage products from the official sausage maker of Lambeau Field. Go figure.

Also new to fans are the Fox River Marketplaces, filled with grab-and-go bags of chips, candies, beer and soft drinks. Each one will feature a food item unique to its location. The one near section 106 will have Tundra Punch, a fruity alcoholic slush (24 ounces, $12) to start the season but will move to hot toddies as the tundra freezes.

Here's what you need to know about the new foods. The pierogies are club level exclusives but the rest can be found in concession stands on the 100 and 300 levels.

BOURBON BRATWURST | Johnsonville Tailgate Village, sections 134, 352: A Johnsonville bratwurst topped by a bourbon jam made with Johnsonville Sausage Strips, sauteed onions and Provolone cheese on a pretzel bun. Purists might argue that a bratwurst doesn't need any toppings, and they're not wrong, but the added sweetness and bourbon flavors are welcome additions to my taste.

TOUCHDOWN MAC AND CHEESE BRATWURST | Johnsonville Tailgate Village, sections 134, 352: A Johnsonville Brat with Johnsonville Sausage Strips and topped by mac and cheese, fried sauerkraut on a Sheboygan brat bun. It's a bratwurst and mac and cheese together. You know what you're getting here.

CHORIZO QUESADILLA | Johnsonville Tailgate Village: Johnsonville Chorizo Sausage Strips with black bean corn salsa, Monterey Jack cheese inside a tortilla. The chorizo has just enough bite to stand out without being overpowering.

GYRO | Section 124: Pita bread, shaved gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, shaved red onion. If you've ever been at a Packers game with a craving for a gyro, now you're in luck. This hits all the classic flavors.

FETA FRENCH FRIES | Section 124: Fries with Greek seasonings topped by crumbled Feta cheese and served with a side of tzatziki sauce. If you've ever been at Packers game eating a gyro and wished you had a side of fries, now you're in luck.

TAILGATER PIEROGI | Section 486:  A pierogi stuffed with ground bratwurst, cheese curd, onion and sauerkraut topped by beer mustard crema. Gooey, doughy, fatty. It's the definition of everything you'd want in a comfort food, which could be good thing if this season doesn't go as hoped by Packers fans.

POTATO AND CHEESE PIEROGI | Section 486: A traditional pierogi topped with Johnsonville Polish sausage, sauteed onions and sauerkraut with charred chive crema. A more traditional pierogi, same comforting feels.

If you want to wash down these or any other foods with beer from local breweries your options include: Hinterland IPA and Hazy IPA, Badger State Brewing BRW-SKI and Stillmank Brewing's Perky Porter and Guava Juiced IPA.
