Flood victims and dairy farmers
Born below sea level in the Netherlands it was good to read about government help when recent East Coast floods made 17 victims. Thousands of homes flooded so great timing of government agencies stepping in with adequate packages of emergency assistance.
Having been part of the dairy industry for decades and knowing that our industry is “bleeding like it never bled before” one wonders how this number of flood victims compares to the number of suicides committed by dairy farmers over the last two years?
In addition you wonder how many more dairies will still have to go “under water” and how many more suicides are needed before politicians will finally realize bipartisan action is highly needed to come to the rescue of those who feed the nation?
