A workshop designed for inform graziers how to integrate cover crops into grazing systems for improving soil health will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in the Johnsonville Lodge at Camp Y-Koda, W3340 Sunset Road, in Sheboygan County.

The day's session will start with a roundtable of graziers from east central and southeast Wisconsin sharing experiences about their favorite forage species, management practices with those species, pasture renovation timetables, grazing heights, stocking rates and any farm transition plans, according to Kirsten Jurcek, a grazing educator for the Glacierland Resource Conservation and Development Council.

Following the noon luncheon, the feature presenters will be Ray ('the soils guy') Archuleta and Justin Morris of the Natural Resources Conservation Service. They will describe grazing management techniques for building healthy and resilient soil in a farming system that mimics nature and is likely to improve net returns for graziers.

Reservations for the workshop are required by Wednesday, Feb. 24. Checks for $20 per person and payable to Glacierland RC&D should be sent to Kirsten Jurcek, N2437 Brattset Lane, Jefferson, WI. 53549.
