June #GiveGallons social media campaign

In honor of June Dairy Month, Badgerland Financial launched a #GiveGallons social media campaign June 1 to show their support of dairy farmers and raise awareness of the milk gap at local food banks.

Badgerland Financial asks their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram followers to share dairy-related images such as attending a dairy breakfast, enjoying Wisconsin dairy products, and/or on-farm with dairy animals on their social media pages.

For each image shared using the #GiveGallons hashtag, Badgerland Financial will donate two gallons of milk, up to 1,000 gallons, to families in need in local communities served by Second Harvest Foodbank and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

'We recognize the industry's dedication to provide safe and nutritious milk and dairy products for all to enjoy. Milk is one of the most requested, yet least donated, items to food banks both in Wisconsin and nationwide,' said Rochelle Schnadt, marketing specialist at Badgerland Financial. 'On average, those in need receive the equivalent of less than one gallon, per person, per year. Many don't think to donate milk because it's perishable. Through this social media campaign, we're looking to create camaraderie from customers, prospects, influencers and others to do something to address this need.'

For those who prefer not to share a photo but still give to the cause, Badgerland Financial is teaming up with Second Harvest Foodbank and NBC15 during June Dairy Month with a goal of 500 donors to donate a day's worth of milk valued at $36, through the 'Adopt a Dairy Cow' promotion (http://givedairy.com/). In honor of its 100th anniversary, Badgerland Financial will match the first 100 donations.
