Dairy Business Association elects directors, officers

Dairy Business Association members elected three new directors during the annual business meeting at the second Dairy Strong 2016: Partners in Progress conference at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison.

Newly elected board directors include farmer representatives Cody Heller, president of Heller Farm Inc. and chief executive officer of Central Wisconsin Ag Services, and Lloyd Holterman, a lifelong dairy farmer and partner in Rosy-Lane Holsteins; and corporate representative Cindy Leitner, co-owner/chief financial officer and operations manager for LDS Inc., a dairy equipment and service provider.

Heller is a corporate and farmer member of the DBA and has served on the organization's membership committee. Heller's also an accomplished speaker on dairy technology and labor management issues. He also served as president of American Barefoot Waterski Club and director of the Barefoot Waterski Council, a subsidiary of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Holterman has been involved with dairy activities on the state, national and international levels. He has served on multiple boards, including the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin and its policy committee, the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Jefferson County Farm Bureau and the Watertown Town Planning Commission. Holterman also gives tours of his dairy farm and other outreach efforts to educate the public.

Leitner has served in her current role with LDS Inc. for the past 11 years. She has served on multiple boards, including the Boumatic Dealer Advisory Board. Leitner has been active in facilitating the growth of the business through focused customer service to dairies, implementing systems, training staff and streamlining procedures.

DBA members also re-elected Gordon Speirs as president. Speirs owns and operates Shiloh Dairy LLC in Brillion with his wife, Cathy, and their two sons, Travis and Tyler.

Officers are unchanged: Jen Keuning of Conestoga-Rovers & Associates Inc., Green Bay, secretary, and Tom Crave of Crave Brothers Farm, Waterloo, treasurer.

Outgoing directors are Greg Steele of AgStar Financial Services, Baldwin; Jim Ostrom of MilkSource LLC, Kaukauna; and Kevin Solum of Minglewood Inc., Deer Park.
