Dunn County farmer dies after becoming trapped in baler

DUNN COUNTY, WI - Authorities in the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office have identified the man who died in a farming accident on July 9.

Sheriff’s deputies say 67-year-old Danny Eckert of rural Menomonie died after he became trapped in a round hay baler.

According to sheriff’s reports, first responders were called to the 6900 block of 513th Street in the Town of Menomonie around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.  Rescue workers and law enforcement officers found Eckert trapped in the farm machinery. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
