Much anticipated Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center to open July 28-29
MANITOWOC - The much anticipated Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center will hold its its Grand Opening Weekend from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, 2018, at 7001 Gass Lake Rd., Manitowoc, WI
Doors will be open for Farm Wisconsin Members only from 9:00 a.m. until Noon, and at Noon, the event will open to the general public.
Special introductory ticket prices for Saturday and Sunday will be $12 for Adults and $6 for children (ages 4-18) and free for children 3 and under. Activities and special events planned throughout the day include face painting, games, baby calves being born in the Land O’Lakes Birthing Barn, and self-guided tours of interactive exhibits. Although Farm Wisconsin will be offering daily tours of nearby Grotegut Dairy Farm, due to the large crowds expected on Grand Opening Weekend, tours will not be offered.
The first 100 visitors (one per family) each day will receive a free gift and the first 200 visitors each day will receive a ticket for free ice cream courtesy of the Farm Families of Manitowoc County. Ice Cream Acres supported by Cedar Crest Ice Cream and the Wisconsin Café presented by Sargento will be open to purchase ice cream, food and beverages. The Farm House supported by County Visions Cooperative and CP Feeds will also be open to purchase souvenirs, cheese and more.

On Monday, July 30, 2018, the FWDC will open for its normal business hours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week. Regular ticket prices are: $16 for adults, $8 for youth (ages 4-18), $12 for seniors (62+), free for youth 3 and under. Reservations are now being accepted for groups of 15 or more: $10 per person (with a coupon for a free ice cream cone) and school groups: $5 per person.
Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center is a state-of-the-art, interactive agricultural education center located in Manitowoc County. It provides visitors with the opportunity to connect to the industry by better understanding where their food comes from, and why agriculture is so important to them. The center features 10,000 square feet of hands-on learning opportunities, a birthing barn where visitors may watch calves being born daily, and an opportunity to tour a local farm to learn about Wisconsin’s rich farm history.
