WEST ALLIS - Who will claim the Wisconsin State Fair World Cheese Curd Eating Championship? Who will walk away with $2,000? Will you be the first woman or man to set a world record in the fresh cheese curd-eating discipline?

The Wisconsin State Fair announced that it has partnered with Major League Eating to bring cheese enthusiasts the event of the summer – the inaugural Wisconsin State Fair World Cheese Curd Eating Championship.

Kristin Chuckel of the Wisconsin State Fair wants entrants to understand they will be chowing down on the fresh, squeaky cheese curds, not their deep-fried cousins.

The competition will take place at noon on August 11, on stage of the Associated Bank Amphitheater.

This event will mark the first time a world record in the cheese curd-eating discipline will be set. Fairgoers and curd nerds alike will rejoice in this cheesy goodness, and Major League Eaters from near and far are encouraged to sign up to compete in this history-making event.

Besides winning the title and worldwide bragging rights, the first place winner will take home $2000. Top finishers will win the following prizes: runnerup, $1,000; third, $600; foiurth, $300; and fifth, $100.

To avoid disappointment, fairgoers with a penchant for the squeaky curds must enter the competition sponsored by Major League Eating. Registration opens Wednesday, May 30th at noon. For more information, please click here. Applicants must be 18 years or older to enter.
