The Agriculture department at Fox Valley Technical College is hosting its 68th annual Farm Tour on Wednesday, April 4, with tours of local farms in the western Outagamie and Waupaca County regions this year. The tour is open to anyone interested in effective agriculture production practices, new dairy cattle housing and milking facilities, and employee management.

The host sites are the Egan Dairy Farm, with 650 cows through a double 11 herringbone parlor; the Murphy Family Farm, with 225 cows through a robotic system and newly-constructed 4 DeLaval VMS Guided Flow robots; and the Rohan Dairy Farm with about 800 milking and dry cows through a double 20 Germania parlor. The Rohan operation does all of its own planting, spraying, and harvesting.

Roundtrip farm tour buses depart as follows: 9:20 a.m. from FVTC’s Chilton Regional Center; 9:30 from Railroad Junction Restaurant in Forest Junction, 9:40 from St. Nick’s Church, north parking lot, in Freedom, 9:50 from both the Seymour Post Office and FVTC Service Motor Company Agriculture Center on the Appleton campus, 10:05 from FVTC’s Clintonville Regional Center, and 10:20 from Crystal Falls Restaurant and Banquet Hall in New London.

The cost of the tour is $10 and includes transportation and lunch at Crystal Falls Banquet Hall. The fee is collected upon arrival at each respective bus departure. For liability purposes, each visitor must ride a bus from any of the above locations.

Registration is not required but encouraged by calling 715-823-1555. The first 200 registrants will receive an event t-shirt.
