BLACK RIVER FALLS

Jackson County youth are encouraged to attend a Wisconsin Safe Operation of Tractor & Machinery Certification Program. The program will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 21, 22, 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Black River Falls High School agriculture classroom.

This program is designed to meet both State (Wisconsin Act 455) and Federal (Part 570, Child Labor Regulations, Subpart E-1) requirements.

Youth that should attend: any youth 12-16 years of age who will be operating tractors or self-propelled implements of husbandry on a public road under direction of their parent or guardian for work related to their family farm operation, or, any youth 14-15 years of age who will be employed or working without pay on a farm other than their family farm, or, any youth 12 years of age or older that desires tractor and machinery safety instructions.

To successfully complete the course, youth MUST attend the 24 hours of instruction and pass the written and driving exams.

To register for the program, call the Jackson County UW Extension office at 715-284-4257. Parents or guardians are asked to attend the first 20 minutes to be informed on the program requirements.
