FOX LAKE

Come together as a community at the School for Agricultural & Environmental Studies' (SAGES') Community Night and Jim Heuer Chili Fundraiser from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19.

This special event will showcase K-8 student/class project displays and interactive learning stations, plus celebrate the life of a devoted community member ─ Jim Heuer.

Beyond poetry readings and project poster sessions, visitors can explore the newly created 'Outdoor Garden Classroom' and view plans for SAGES' 'Living Schoolyard' project.

Plus, there will be Family Reading Time, a Book Exchange: bring a used book & take a book, and food for sale!

'The Chili Fundraiser is being held to honor Jim Heuer, a long-time Fox Lake resident, area farmer, and SAGES' Governance Board member,' said Judy Stiteley, SAGES' Secretary and Fundraiser Chair. 'Jim was a devoted community member and strong supporter of SAGES. We could always count on him to lend a hand and will remember him for his go-getter attitude and big smile.'

There is no charge to attend the SAGES' Community Night. Proceeds from the chili fundraiser will support SAGES' 'Living Schoolyard' project and driveway improvements ─ both items Heuer was passionate about.

The event will be held at SAGES Charter School, 200 South Depot St., Fox Lake, WI. Everyone is welcome including community members, families with children at SAGES, friends and family of Jim Heuer, current or prospective volunteers and learning partners, local agriculturists and environmentalists, or anyone with an interest in learning more about the school or how they can support SAGES.

SAGES is a project-based, public school with more than 130 students in grades K-8. To learn more about SAGES or for a complete Community Night schedule, visit www.waupun.k12.wi.us/sages.
