Outagamie Forage Council meets April 6

The Outagamie Forage Council meets April 6 at WIchman Farms, at N4735 County Road EE, Appleton.

APPLETON – Wichman Farms at N4735 County Road EE, Appleton, will be the host site for the Outagamie County Forage Council's spring update meeting on Thursday, April 6.

Following a lunch at noon, the program will begin at 12:30 p.m. with area soil scientist Phil Meyer of the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service sharing reminders about the tiling of land, particularly on complying with the Farm Service Agency form AD-1026.

An extensive presentation on weed resistance to herbicides will be given by Vince Davis, a technical service representative for the BASF corporation in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. He is a former weed scientist with the University of Wisconsin Extension Service.

Representatives of Tilth Agronomy and Knutzen Crop Consulting will report on their recent evaluations on the condition of alfalfa stands and winter wheat crops as the new growing season begins.

Two presentations on equipment will conclude the day. The topics will be a description by Andy Kiefer of the Outagamie County land conservation department of the cover crop seeding equipment that's available in the county and a presentation by Dan Pate of Caroline Equipment on the equipment most suitable for making dry hay.
