Area Animal Science Days Dairy Judging results released
Wisconsin youth competed in four district dairy judging contests June 21 in Portage, June 28 in Outagamie County, June 30 in St Croix County and July 1 in Green County.
The top two teams and individuals earned an opportunity to compete at the State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest that took place in Black River Falls on Monday, July 18, in conjunction with the state Guernsey and Ayrshire show.
Alternate Contest at large, Portage
Thirty-three Seniors competed at the alternate contest in Portage, with Dodge County taking top honors. The four-person Senior team consisted of Dawson Nickels, Danielle Warmka, Paul Grulke and Samantha Pitterle. Dawson Nickels won the individual Senior contest with 510 points. Danielle Warmka also from Dodge County placed second, earning 508 points. Thirty-eight Junior dairy judging youth also competed at the contest.
In a close contest, winning the Junior division by only four points was the team from Lafayette County, which consisted of McKenzie Calvert, Madison Calvert, Morgan Van Schyndle and Payton Calvert. The top individual in the Junior division was McKenzie Calvert from Lafayette County with 392 points. The second high individual was Katrina Hoesley from Waushara County, earning 390 points.

Twelve Senior dairy judging teams competed at the Northeast Area Animal Science Days contest in Outagamie County, with Manitowoc County taking top honors. Brooke Roberts, Jared Zutz, Vanessa Roberts and Jake Siemers comprised the winning team.
Brooke Roberts of Manitowoc County won the Senior division with 523 points and Kaila Wussow of Shawano County was second with 521 points.
15 teams competed in the Junior division. Outagamie County took home first place, with a team consisting of Mathew Court, Maclayne Gilson, Rachel Karweick, and Jacob Court. Mathew Court was also the top individual in the Junior division, earning 418 points and second place went to Maclayne Gilson of Outagamie County with 417 points.

Eight Senior dairy judging teams competed at the Northwest Area Animal Science Days contest in St Croix, with St Croix County taking top honors. Eva Doornink, Ellis Frank, Derek Utecht and Austin Raymond made up the winning Senior team. Eva Doornink won the Senior division with 494 points, and Ellis Frank was second with 487 points.
Winning the Junior division was the team from Barron County, which consisted of Zach Moret, Henry Huth, Alleah Anderson and Justyne Frisle. The top individual in the Junior division was Abbie Powers from Dunn County with 393 points. The second high individual was Zach Moret, earning 384 points.

Ten Senior dairy judging teams competed at the Southern Area Animal Science Days contest held in Green County. The winning Senior team was the team from Dane County. The team consisted of Emma Olstad, Lindsey Sarbacker, Molly Olstad and Megan Breuch. The top Senior Individual was Emma Olstad from Dane County with 514 points, and Colin Uecker of Jefferson County placed second with 510 points.
There were also fourteen Junior teams that competed at the contest. The winning junior team hailed from Rock County, consisting of Sara Kronberg, Quincee Johnson, Cody Baxter and Emma Mcnally. Earning first and second in the Junior division were Marissa Vosberg from Green County and Emilie Brose from Vernon County earning 402 points and 399 points, respectively.
