To show solidarity with women ahead of President Trump's State of the Union address, Democrats coordinated their clothing, wearing all white. USA TODAY

Tiffany Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump, wore a white outfit at the State of the Union – the same color numerous female Democrats donned as a political statement.

The outfit sparked confusion and speculation on social media for its potential political significance. Users wondered if the outfit was an intentional statement or an unintentional oversight. Tiffany Trump also wore white at last year's address.

Heading into the State of the Union, the Democratic Women’s Working Group, encouraged members to wear white as a shoutout to the voters who handed Democrats a majority in the House in the midterm election and a reminder that they plan to make women's economic security a priority.

The connection was not lost on social media users:

Hours before the State of the Union address, lawmakers wearing white posed for a picture.

"Today, we wear suffragette white for the #SOTU and stand in unity to continue to fight for women’s rights across America. #WomenUnited #StateOfTheWoman," tweeted Rep. Nanette D. Barragán, D-Calif.
