The Border Patrol held a second mobile field force joint agency exercise Thursday at the border fence in Sunland Park, New Mexico, across from Anapra.
Border Patrol agents joined forces with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Air and Marine Operations, which provided a helicopter for air cover.
Border Patrol agent Fidel Baca said the training exercises are important when working with other agencies.
"We do these exercises because we want to be prepared for anything that could and may happen here on the Borderland," Baca said. "We are law enforcement, so we always prepare for all types of scenarios."
Baca said the agencies train separately but rarely have a chance to bring their training together.
"These types of exercises allow us to see what we need to work on, if there are any kinks," he said. "Also, since it's a joint exercise, we can see the cohesiveness between agencies."
