Toddler dies after being run over by skid loader
TOWN OF AURORA – A two-year-old is dead following a farm accident on a Taylor County farm on May 23.
According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office news release, the girl's 12-year-old brother was feeding hay with a skid loader around 8:30 p.m. when the accident occurred at the town of Aurora farm. At the time, the boy was operating the machinery with the bucket three to four feet off of the ground, limiting his visibility.
The boy told authorities that he saw a flash of movement and assumed it was the family dog, as the young girl was not expected to be in the area at the time.
The toddler's father was able to free the child from under the machine. The girlwas rushed to Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley but died from her injuries while en route, according to the report.
Names are not being released at this time.
