MADISON - Over 1150 youth from across the U.S. traveled to Madison to compete in the National Jr. Angus show. The show's 50th anniversary featured 1,157 entries led by youth across the shavings on the floor of the Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, July 10-13.

Judges for the event included Doug Satree and assistant judge, Katy Satree, Montague, Texas, owned heifers; Kyle Colyer, Bruneau, Idaho, judged the bred-and-owned heifers, cow-calf pairs, and bulls; Jirl Buck, Madill, Okla., assisted in judging the bred-and-owned heifers, cow-calf pairs and bulls; and Miles Shout, Piedmont, Okla., judged the steers.

Bred and owned bull

3ACES Wildcat 1507 won grand champion bred-and-owned bull exhibited by Whitney Meier, Clinton, Tenn. 3ACES is the January 2017 son of FCF Intuition 345. He earlier won junior champion.

BNWZ/SWNY Specialty 7200 won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull and was exhibited by Austin Nowatzke, Michigan City, Ind., owns the February 2017 son of PVF Insight 0129.

Owned female

Seldom Rest Sandy 7038 won grand champion owned female at the 2018 National Junior Angus Show. Kathryn Coleman, Modesto, Calif., owns the March 2017 daughter of EXAR Classen 1422B.

UDE Queen Ruth 109E won reserve grand champion and is owned by Shayne Myers, Colusa, Calif.,

Steer

PVF Insight 7080 won grand champion steer. The animal was shown by Adam Miller, Gridley, Ill.. The February 2017 champion steer is the son of PVF Insight 0129.

Laura Carpenter, Wamego, Kan. exhibited reserve grand champion steer, ROSE Chip 754, the son of Colburn Primo 5153.

Bred and owned steer 

ACW Bud 7240 won grand champion bred-and-owned steer. The animal is owned by Austin Woodrow, Emporia, Kan.. The April 2017 steer is the son of Greene Pokerface 1304.

Bear Mtn Trump 7711 was tapped as the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned steer. Reagan Skow, Palisade, Neb., owns the March 2017 son of Reagan's Bear Mtn Trump 5037.

Bred and owned female

Intermediate champion Dameron Elsa 7165 was selected as the grand champion bred-and-owned female at the 2018 National Junior Angus Show. She is owned by Anne Dameron, Towanda, Ill. The May 2017 daughter of Dameron First Class.

DPL Sandy 7462 won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Dawson Dal Porto, Oakley, Calif., owns the September 2017 daughter of EXAR Classen 1422B.

Bred and owned cow-calf pair

Cherry Knoll Lady 1481 won grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair. Brody Fitzgerald, West Grove, Pa., owns the November 2014 daughter of Dameron First Class.

C&C Winnie 6070 won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair and is owned by Ryan Callahan, Edmond, Okla.

Owned cow-calf pair

Seldom Rest Lucy 6013 won grand champion owned cow-calf pair at the 2018 National Junior Angus Show. Kathryn Coleman, Modesto, Calif., owns the February 2016 daughter of Silveiras S Sis GQ 2353. A February 2018 heifer calf sired by EXAR Zulu 403 completes the winning pair. They first won champion two-year-old pair.    

Hendersons Patton Queen 6044 won reserve grand champion owned cow-calf pair. Karson Patton, Frankfort, Ind., owns the April 2016 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. A March 2018 heifer calf sired by S A V Potency 0641 is at her side.
