Stoney Acres Farm's beer hall nearing completion | Streetwise
TOWN OF BERN - Tony Schultz continues to build and evolve his ever-popular pizza nights at Stoney Acres Farm.
A beer hall is being constructed to add indoor seating for pizza nights, and Schultz said it should be completed by August. Schultz said the beer hall will help alleviate customers' worries about weather and to add future possibilities for events on the farm, such as wedding receptions.
"Right now, it's about helping customers who won't have to worry about looking at the weather," he said. "We have some indoor seating, but this will allow a lot more room if guests want to sit inside."
Schultz continues to add elements to pizza nights, as he started a brewery with beermaker Josh Wright before this season for guests to pair beverages with their pizza. The farm's locally-brewed beer is sold on site during pizza nights.
This year, Schultz expanded pizza nights — which offer pizzas made with all-local ingredients, cooked in an outdoor stone oven — to every Friday and Saturday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Nov. 3. Previously it was just Friday nights with eight ticketed Saturday pizza nights.
"Pizza nights are something I very much enjoy," Schultz said. "I love to grow vegetables but this is a way to interact with CSA members and customers. The atmosphere that is created and enjoying each other's company is special."
