Cattle killed in Fond du Lac County barn fire
TOWN OF AUBURN - Officials have confirmed that eight cows died in a barn fire earlier this week.
Firefighters were called to the scene just after midnight on Wednesday, July 11, for the report of a barn at N141 Highway 45 in the town of Auburn that was fully engulfed in flames.
According to Fond du Lac County real estate records, the property is owned by Buss Farmland LLC of Campbellsport.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said the barn and its contents were lost and cattle were being moved away from the burning structure.
The fire shut down traffic on Highway 45 for more than seven hours while firefighters from 16 fire departments battled the blaze. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says a preliminary investigation indicates an electrical problem may have started the fire.
Those responding along with Kewaskum Fire Department were engine and tenders from Campbellsport, Boltonville, Jackson, Kohlsville, Beechwood, Fillmore, Eden, West Bend, Slinger, Newburg, Silver Creek, Allenton, St. Lawrence, Richfield and Random Lake.
