PETA is pushing back against lawmakers who are urging the FDA to enforce rules against non-dairy products  for labeling them as "milk".

In an effort to clap back against the "Dairy Pride Act"—championed by senators from dairy states including Sen. Tammy Baldwin—the animal activist group plans to launch its retaliatory campaign "De-Calf Your Coffee. Dairy is Udder Cruelty. Choose Almond, Soy or Coconut Milk."

PETA will run its promotion in conjunction with June Dairy Month, a national endorsement for the consumption of dairy products. To spread the word of it's anti-dairy month crusade,  PETA plans to distribute 20,000 "cruelty-free" creamer sleeves to small independent coffee shops in some of America’s biggest dairy-producing states including New York, California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin—”America’s Dairyland”—with future plans to place the ads in more cafés in the coming months.

Among the cities targeted will be Madison, Wisconsin, the hometown of Senator Tammy Baldwin, sponsor of the Dairy Pride Act, which aims to “prohibit the sale of any food that uses the market name of a dairy product [but] is not the milk of a hooved animal.”

According to PETA's website, the group takes issue with factory farms artificially inseminating cows (likening it to "rape via syringe") and tearing newborn calves away from their "loving" mothers, only to live substandard lives.

"Learning about the conditions under which cow’s milk is obtained is enough to leave a sour taste in anyone’s mouth. That’s why so many consumers are ditching dairy for coconut, almond, oat, hazelnut, and soy milks," said PETA Vice President Dan Mathews. "Not only do vegan milk options taste better than cow’s milk, they’re also free of the cruelty that every glass of dairy milk is brimming with."

So, what are you waiting for? Learn everything you need to know about vegan milk options and decalf your coffee, your latte, and your LIFE today!

PETA officials say the coffee sleeve initiative may run beyond June, depending on the outcome of the legislation.
