33 sturgeon harvested Thursday on Lake Winnebago

The number of sturgeon speared this season moved closer to 300 on Thursday.
Another 33 fish were speared Thursday on Lake Winnebago, bringing the total to 286. The season for the upriver lakes closed on Tuesday after the 11th adult female was registered there, putting the season total at 297.

The largest sturgeon speared on Thursday was by Nicholas Ludvigsen. It was 131.4 pounds and 77 inches long, and registered at Wendt's in Oshkosh.
The southern stations on Lake Winnebago also had more success than the northern stations on Thursday, said Ryan Koenigs with the state Department of Natural Resources.
