Agronomy meeting held in Fond du Lac

UW-Extension Fond du Lac County will host a 2018 Agronomy Update meeting from noon to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday Jan. 3, 2018 at the UW Fond du Lac University Center. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m.
Three hours of Certified Crop Advisor (CEU) credits in Crop Management have been requested.
At this meeting, Dr. Rodrigo Werle, the new UW-Madison Weed Specialist, talk about new corn and soybean herbicides for 2018, and using cover crops as weed management tools. Dr. Werle comes to Wisconsin from Nebraska, so he will talk about cover crop lessons learned from his work in Nebraska.
In addition, Dr. Joe Lauer will address how many corn hybrids should be grown on a farm and managing risk when selecting hybrids. For high input corn systems, Dr. Lauer will also address differences between maximum yield and economic optimum yield, and he will comment on corn’s response to Super U.
Dr. Shawn Conley will revisit a discussion on soybean phenological development and its role in management. He will also present information on strip-tillage, and whether it is an effective soil management tool in soybean.
Please pre-register on or before Wednesday Dec. 27 to avoid the “walk-in” (Late) fee.
Registration includes a meal and information packet of many valuable university resources. Additional information packets will be available for a fee, if requested in advance.
