Green Bay - Working safely is a core value for all Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) employees. As a reward for achieving company safety goals in the fourth quarter of 2016, the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation has presented a total of $5,000 to a pair of honor flights on behalf of WPS employees.

On Tuesday, March 14, the WPS Foundation awarded a $2,500 donation to Never Forgotten Honor Flight, which is based in north central Wisconsin, during an employee safety meeting at the company's Rhinelander service center. Another $2,500 donation was made March 8 to Old Glory Honor Flight, which serves northeast Wisconsin, during a meeting of all employees at the utility's Fox Energy Center Power Plant in Wrightstown.

This is the fourth consecutive quarter WPS employees have met their safety goals as part of the company's Safety Charity Challenge. Each time, employees have voted to make a donation to both Old Glory and Never Forgotten honor flights, which provide local World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans with a trip to Washington, D.C., to see war memorials and receive recognition for their service.

The Safety Charity Challenge is a program established at WEC Energy Group utilities to encourage workplace safety and make a positive impact in the communities they serve. The utilities and accompanying foundations donated more than $72,000 to local organizations in 2016.
