Northeast Wisconsin Jersey cow enters bovine history books
Freedom, WI — A northeast Wisconsin Jersey cow has made it into the bovine history books by securing her third consecutive Supreme Champion title.
Musquie Iatola Martha, part of the herd at MilkSource Genetics in Kaukauna, WI, successfully defended her crown at the Canadian-hosted Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, one of the world’s premier cow shows. In between capturing the title there in 2015 and 2016, Martha also nabbed the Supreme Champion title at the 2016 World Dairy Expo in Madison.
“I am not aware of another cow that has accomplished this,” said John Vosters, one of the partners in MilkSource Genetics.
In achieving this benchmark, Martha became the first cow to achieve back-to-back wins as The Royal champion.
The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is the world's largest combined indoor agricultural and equestrian show.
“Martha is an incredible cow because she can be at her best so consistently,” Vosters said. “To come out on top against so many other incredible cows is remarkable … she is truly second to none right now.”
