FVTC students excel at World Dairy Expo
Madison — Agriculture students from Fox Valley Technical College earned honors at the 2016 World Dairy Expo in Madison, an annual five-day competitive event that includes more than 80 post-secondary contestants representing several nationwide two- and four-year colleges and universities.
One FVTC team placed first in the linear evaluation category of Heifer judging, Practical contest. A second FVTC team placed fifth in both the Holsteins and Red and White Holsteins judging categories in the traditional contest series.
Three FVTC students placed in the top five individually with Kelvin Arnold earning second place and Macala Ellis fourth place in the aforementioned Heifer event, and Adam Meinert finished fourth in the Breed competition, Traditional category. Zachary Reimer was part of both fifth-place team Holstein finishes. This year’s event marked the best finish ever for FVTC at the World Dairy Expo.
The World Dairy Expo, which celebrated 50 years in 2016, serves as a forum for dairy producers, companies, organizations, and other industry enthusiasts to join together to compete while exchanging ideas and knowledge, in addition to sharing best practices in technology and commerce.
The Expo’s annual competitions involve students participating in groups divided into post-secondary, intercollegiate, 4-H, and FFA categories. Each competition includes both practical and traditional judging criteria.
