Dennis and Kelsey Schwochert compete in the fun classes at the Jefferson County Fair.

This year the Jefferson County Draft Horse Association crowned Tanner Dwindel their 2016-17 ambassador. Tanner is from the Wisconsin Dells and her parents Tim and Stacy Wroblewski are members of the Jefferson County Draft Horse Association.

Kelsey Schwochert of Montello was awarded the Jerry Hitchcock Memorial Award. Schwochert accumulated points for the award in showmanship at halter, junior cart and junior team classes. She had the highest point total among all junior exhibitors.

The weather was great that weekend and we a good audience. Exhibitors competed in some fun classes that included egg-spoon, keyhole race and we included some classes for those that didn’t want to ride so they could participate, including the wheel barrow race and barrel throw.

Many of the exhibitors will be showing at the Washington County Fair, Waupaca County Fair, Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn or the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis, Wisconsin or down to Boone in Illinois.

Michael Cyr leads a four-horse hitch around the arena.

The next time the gentle giants will be down at Old World Wisconsin will be September 3 and 4 for plowing and October 8-9 for logging. These events are made possible by the grant we received from the Wisconsin State Horse Council to help the teamsters with the price of fuel to bring their horses to Old World Wisconsin.
