Communications team recognized

Recently, the Select Sires communications team was honored during the annual Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA) Institute conference held in Baton Rouge, LA.

Each year, members of CCA can enter the communications contest in the divisions of writing, publications, photography and programs and projects.

The Select Sires team earned several accolades including Best of Show and first place in programs and projects with the promotional video “When a Champion is Born.” The team also earned first place in the illustration/graphic art category, second and third place in miscellaneous promotional, third place in improved publication and honorable mention for the Excellence in Communications Award.

Mike Peters

Peters to head UW ARS network

Mike Peters has been named director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Agricultural Research State (ARS) network, the univserity’s system of 11 research stations located throughout the state of Wisconsin.

In his new role, Peters, currently the assistant director of the Research Animal Resources Center (RARC) at UW-Madison, will be responsible for the overall management and direction of campus’ research station network.

The network provides facilities and support for the research, extension and educational programs of the UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS).

Peters replaces Dwight Mueller, who retires this fall. Peters begins the position on July 17, allowing some time for overlap with Mueller.

Allen VerVoort

VerVoort to receive President’s award

Allen VerVoort has been selected to receive the 2017 Wisconsin Dairy Products Association’s Presidents Award. VerVoort has been a registered sanitarian in the state of Wisconsin for 46 years. He is also a member of the Wisconsin and International associations of Food Protection.

Throughout his career VerVoort provided training and sanitation programs for many industry-related organizations, including The Center for Dairy Research, UW Food Science, Wisconsin Association of Food Protection and others.

Allan served on the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association’s board of directors from 2008 to 2016. The award will be presented to VerVoort at a special awards dinner July 10 at the 2017 Dairy Symposium. The Dairy Symposium will be held July 10-11 at the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor, WI.

Ethan Pickett

AgSource welcomes Pickett

AgSource announced that Ethan Pickett has accepted the position of Water Sales Representative.

Pickett will work with the Marshfield, WI, AgSource laboratory, focusing specifically on the certified water and wastewater analysis solutions.

He’ll work directly with customers, including municipalities, businesses, homeowners, hotels, pool and spa owners, and realtors, to maintain strong relationships and provide quick turnaround time, quality service and accurate results.

Richard Carlson

Carlson joins Select Sires GenerVations staff

Richard Carlson has joined the Select Sires GenerVations team as beef manager. Carlson will be responsible for leading the Select Sires GenerVations beef program, including development of the beef sire lineup, representative sales force, as well as marketing and sales.

Bill Young, general manager of Select Sires GenerVations said the company is looking forward to having Carlson lead the team to serve the beef industry in Canada.”

Kim Rominger

EDA names new President

The Equipment Dealers Association (EDA) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Kim Rominger as their new President/CEO.

He will assume responsibilities effective July 5, 2017. Rominger replaces Rick Lawhun, who decided to pursue his lifelong goal of retiring on his 60th birthday.

Rominger currently serves as the Executive Vice President/CEO of the United Equipment Dealers Association (UEDA), a position he will continue to hold.

Chris Ashworth

Ashworth is new Zinpro vet

Zinpro Corporation has tapped Chris Ashworth, D.V.M., as its newest ruminant veterinarian.

In this position, Ashworth will provide beef, feedlot and dairy customers with training and technical support on the latest research results, current production trends and information related to optimal ruminant production and Zinpro Performance Minerals® use.

In addition, Ashwiorth will assist with the company’s ruminant research efforts and work with sales and marketing teams to develop technical materials and presentations.
