Crop insurance meetings for farmers set

Crop meetings are set in Albany, Edgerton and Whitewater.

Evansville — Did you know that there are 77,000 farms in Wisconsin and their average size is 195 acres? National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) reports that crop insurance protected $2.4 billion of liability on crops in Wisconsin in 2015.

The deadline to purchase crop insurance for this year’s growing season is March 15, 2017. Union Bank & Trust Company (UB&T) invites farmers to attend Crop Insurance meetings as they plan for 2017.

UB&T’s team of Ag experts will share tools to help farmers decide what’s best for their farm business. UB&T crop insurance specialists Jessica Agnew-Sarbacker, Heather Golz and Emily Johnson will host the meetings and provide area county FSA updates.

The following guest speakers will present: Predicting and Managing Nitrogen Application in Corn: Joe Brown of Pioneer Seed / Loran Klitzman Pioneer Seed; Using Crop Insurance to Maintain Profitability and 2017 Supplemental Crop Insurance Products
: Ed Dunn Strategic Farm Marketing; Managing Weather Risk: Developing Weather Foresight : Eric Snodgrass Director, Atmospheric Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Meetings will be held at the following locations beginning at 10 a.m.:

Thursday, Jan. 26 —  841 Brew House (Randy’s), 841 E. Milwaukee St., Whitewater.

Tuesday, Jan. 31 —  Creekview Par Three, 770 Albion Rd., Edgerton.

Monday, Feb. 6 — Albany Lion’s Club, 402 N Cincinnati St., Albany.
