Black Friday week: Plan when to shop for deals at Walmart, Target and Best Buy with this calendar

Black Friday used to be one day and done. Not anymore.

Sales got underway weeks ago to lure early-bird shoppers to stores. Now, an official wave of Black Friday sales is rolling out early, a week before Nov. 26, the traditional kick-off to the holiday shopping season.

Best Buy, Belk and JCPenney already kicked off their sales with most deals available while supplies last.

On Sunday, Target and Kohl's start their official Black Friday sales in stores and online. Walmart drops its online sale Monday, but shoppers will have to wait until early Friday morning to get the deals in stores with the exception of hard-to-find Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 that are online only.

For the second year, most major retailers are breaking with tradition and keeping stores closed on the holiday.

Friday, Nov. 19

Now underway:

Saturday, Nov. 20

Macy's has had early Black Friday sales but starts it's official sale Nov. 23.

Monday, Nov. 22

Walmart (Online sale starts at 7 p.m. ET and at 3 p.m. ET for Walmart+ members)

Tuesday, Nov. 23

Macy’s sale begins

Many stores have started Black Friday sales early and more will start sales before Nov. 26.

Thursday, Nov. 25: Thanksgiving

According to Adobe, Thanksgiving is the best day for toy deals.

Most stores are closed on Thanksgiving with the exception of CVS, Walgreens, Bass Pro Shops, convenience stores and some grocery stores.

Online sales begin at:Amazon, Costco, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club, Office Depot and more. Kohl’s adds "Super Deals" online.

Friday, Nov. 26: Black Friday 2021

The best day for furniture, bedding, tools and home improvement, according to Adobe.

Early store opening times*

  • 5 a.m.: Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Old Navy, JCPenney, Dick’s Sporting Goods
  • 6 a.m.: Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ulta, Macy’s, Big Lots
  • 7 a.m.: Target, Belk, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Marshalls, BJ's Wholesale Club

* Store hours can vary by location, but most stores will open early for Black Friday.
