A popular discontinued snack that has sparked petitions and created social media buzz is making a comeback.

Doritos announced Monday its new three-dimensional snack dubbed 3D Crunch will hit store shelves Dec. 28. They will come in two flavors – Spicy Ranch and Chili Cheese Nacho.

Instead of the Frito-Lay brand’s traditional flat triangles, these Doritos come in a conical shape. The original Dorito 3D’s were available between 1998 and 2004.

Rachel Ferdinando, Frito-Lay North America senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a news release that Doritos 3D is one of the company’s most anticipated product launches.

“What’s exciting is that we didn’t just bring back the original – we’ve evolved it to reflect the snacking trends of a new generation,” Ferdinando said. “We’re thrilled to introduce a new version at a time when we all could use a small moment of joy.”

The new flavors are “Frito-Lay’s latest expansion in the hot-and-spicy food category, one of the fastest-growing segments in the food industry,” the release said.

Actress Ali Landry, who appeared in a 1998 Super Bowl commercial, will be partnering with Doritos to launch a nationwide challenge that pays homage to the original Laundromat commercial.

According to the release, Landry will ask fans to catch Doritos 3D in their mouth in the boldest ways possible with the #Doritos3DChallenge on TikTok starting Dec. 28.

The new Doritos will come in 6-ounce bags for a suggested retail price of $4.29 and 2-ounce bags for $1.89.
