Oprah gives the most epic baby gifts, ever

LOS ANGELES — Any new mom knows baby gifts come rolling in once your little one arrives.
But when you're friends with Oprah Winfrey, things get a little more epic. Just ask Mindy Kaling, who welcomed her first child, daughter Katherine, in December.
"I got a call from my assistant. She said, 'Oprah's assistant contacted me, she'd like to drop off a present.' I'm thinking, that's so nice, like, (it's) probably flowers. I had a kid, I'm a single mom. That's really nice Oprah remembered," Kaling told USA TODAY on Sunday, sitting with Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, her Wrinkle in Time co-stars.
"Two men are going to be coming to your house, they said, with a U-Haul truck," Kaling continued.
"True," nodded Winfrey.
"All you want in life is to hear that two men in a U-Haul truck are coming to your house because Oprah sent them," said Kaling. "I was supposed to go to work that day (but I was like), I gotta be here."
What Oprah-endorsed wonder awaited the newborn? "They arrived with a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children's literature," said Kaling. "And I held my baby up to it and I said, 'Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?'"
Naturally, it gets better. "Each book has 'Katherine's Book Club' on it," said the new mom.
"It wasn't as perfect as I wanted it to be," said Winfrey, who wanted the dollhouse to resemble the treehouse Kaling's Wrinkle character, Mrs. Who, lives in.
"Now it only looks like a beautiful castle," deadpanned Kaling.
"It was the best I could do," said Winfrey.
"It's the most amazing gift," said Kaling.
A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters March 9.
Disney's star-studded adaptation of the popular children's book "A Wrinkle in Time" challenges viewers to think differently about time and space, darkness and light.
