Lou Malnati's pizzeria is planning to expand into metro Milwaukee.

The wait is nearly over for fans of Chicago-style deep dish pizza near Milwaukee.

Popular Chicago pizzeria Lou Malnati's announced that it will open its first Wisconsin location in Fox Point beginning Dec. 11.

The restaurant, known for its deep dish pizza, will move into the former Pizzanetto restaurant space at 8799 N. Port Washington Road in the Riverpoint Village Shopping Center.

The 2,000-square-foot space will not have a dining area. Only delivery and pickup will be available at the Fox Point store.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring our authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza to America’s Dairyland,” Marc Malnati, owner and son of Lou Malnati, said in a news release. “It’s a historic day for the company to be able to set up shop in Milwaukee and move up north to Wisconsin."

In June, a spokeswoman for the restaurant told the Journal Sentinel that they were looking to open as many as five Lou Malnati's locations in the Milwaukee area. At least one of those locations would be a restaurant with a number of carry-out locations.

The Fox Point Lou Malnati's will open at 4 p.m. on Dec. 11. It will be open daily from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
