You're invited to SAGES' fifth annual Craft Fair & Bake Sale on Saturday, July 23, at the School for Agricultural & Environmental Studies, 200 South Depot Street, Fox Lake.
This special event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is hosted in conjunction with the Fox Lake Firefighter's Classic Car Show held next door to the school at Fireman's Park in Fox Lake.
The Craft Fairs' nearly 30 vendors will feature their crafts, products, and food fare at booths located inside the SAGES' school gymnasium and outside on SAGES' 'Living Schoolyard' grounds. Items available for purchase and perusal range from handmade sewn products, soaps, and soy candles to wooden yard games, flavored popcorn, beef jerky and more.
Also available and aligning with SAGES' emphasis on the environment, craft fairgoers can expect to find a variety of 'upcycled' or 'green' crafts including jewelry from silverware and blue jeans repurposed into pillows, magnetic pockets, or purses, as well as an array of specialty items created by K-eight students during SAGES' recent week-long 'Unbelievable Upcycling' Summer Camp class.
Beyond the crafts and bake sale goodies, attendees can purchase 'Bucket Raffle Tickets' for a chance to win a variety of items donated by the Craft Fair vendors. Plus, staff, students and families from SAGES will be on hand to sell commemorative SAGES mugs and share information about the school and some of the past and present projects underway, such as the living schoolyard, little red barn agricultural learning lab (aka, chicken coop), barn quilt trail and gardens ─ sunflower house garden, school vegetable/fruit garden and upcoming community garden.
