Lillia Janz of West Bend took home Overall Champion Steer honors with her crossbred steer while Jack Henderson of East Troy earned top honors in the heifer division with his commercial heifer during the Central Wisconsin Spring Fling Beef Show on May 6-7.

Janz and Henderson were among 132 exhibitors that traveled from across the Midwest to take a turn around the show ring at the fourth annual event held at the Waushara County Fairgrounds in Wautoma. The show brought in 195 head — an increase of 42 animals over last year's event.

Judge Lance Miller placed 101 heifers, one cow/calf pair and 92 steers. Miller, who works for Purina Animal Nutrition and was the former coach for the University of Wyoming College Livestock Team.

Overall Champion Steer: Lillia Janz, West Bend, WI, exhibiting a Crossbred, and reserve championsteer, a Chi exhibited by Micah Reimer of Loganville, WI.

Angus Champion: Alison Peters, Bryant, WI, and reserve Austin Kast, Richland Center, WI.

Chi Champion: Micah Reimer, Loganville, WI, and reserve Austin Lynd, Janesville, WI.

Hereford Champion: Alexis Kast, Richland Center, WI, and reserve Brooke Peters, Ixonia, WI.

Champion Shorthorn: Morgan Denzer, Pulaski, WI, and reserve Breeze Bunker, Sparta, WI.

Champion Shorthorn Plus: Nick Erickson, Wild Rose, WI, and reserve Shane Rozeboom, Mt. Horeb, WI.

Champion Simmental: Payton Leisgang, Seymour, WI, and reserve Javon Leisgang, Seymour, WI.

Champion Commerial: Jack Henderson, East Troy, WI, and reserve Brodie Abney, South Wayne, WI.

Show organizers Cory and Heidi Wagner said the show wouldn't be possible without the support of hands-on or financial sponors, as well as the exihibitors.

'There is no way Cory and I could do this on our own!' Heidi Wagner said.
