The Scandinavia Booster Club will present its 48th annual Scandinavia Corn Roast Aug. 5-7.
The corn roast started in 1969 as a one-day August event to compliment the Scandinavia Free Fair held earlier in the summer. As time went on, the fair was disbanded but the corn roast has grown into a three day event. The event is located at Ellison Memorial Park, 110 Industrial Dr., Scandinavia.
The event kicks off Friday night with a fish fry along with the Scandinavia Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter's Dance. The Scandinavia Viking Baseball Club will also hold its softball tournament Friday and Saturday, and hosting two B.A.B.A. baseball games on Sunday.
The festivities also include inflatables and bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, entertainment and food and refreshments. Saturday's events include a parade on Main Street and a Truck Pull. Sunday includes an outdoor Church Service, ball games, Farm & Antique Tractor Pulls, the Corn Roast and Pie & Ice Cream Social. To participate in the parade, have your parade entry ready to step off at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6. This year's theme is 'Super Heroes'.
