Organizers of the Central Wisconsin Spring Fling beef cattle show are optimistic that this year's show will follow in the footsteps of last year's successful event.
Heidi Wagner, secretary/treasurer for the Central Wisconsin Beef Association said 130 competitors from across Wisconsin and Minnesota brought 152 animals into the show ring last year.
"We were really happy with the turnout, with kids coming as far away as Burlington," Wagner said. "The bleachers were filled with a lot of spectators of all ages, including babies. It's definitely a family event. We never dreamed it would become as big as it has in just three short years."
Wagner says that the Central Wisconsin Beef Association awarded $2,650 in prize money to the top finishers last year.
"The show wouldn't be possible without the financial support of local sponsors and the hard work of local community groups," she said.
The fourth annual show will be held May 6-7 at the Waushara County Fairgrounds, 513 S. Fair St., Wautoma.
On Friday, May 6, entrants are invited to attend a feeding and nutrition demonstration by VitaFerm at 7 p.m. The show on Saturday begins at 8 a.m. and includes a junior steer jackpot show, junior showmanship, open heifer show, 50/50 raffle, silent auction and more.
Winners of the Jack Pot Open Heifer show and Jack Pot showmanship will take home cash prizes. Top class finishers also receive cash payouts.
