Alsum Farms & Produce Inc. donated 40,000 pounds of potatoes to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to help residents in Flint, MI, impacted by the water contamination crisis.

With the help of grower partners, like Alsum Farms & Produce, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is bringing fresh produce to people impacted by Flint's drinking water crisis. Foods rich in calcium, vitamin C, and iron can help lessen the effects of lead exposure. Many Flint residents do not have easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Food Bank sent multiple truckloads of healthy foods to local pantries that included fresh fruits and vegetables to help feed citizens in need.

Potatoes offer some of the best nutritional values of any food. Naturally fat-free, potatoes have twice the potassium than a banana, and provide nearly half one's daily value of vitamin C — all for just 110 calories in a medium-sized (5.3 ounce) skin-on potato.
