After what some are calling a bizarre Presidential press conference, Rep. Cicilline (D-R.I.) says reality is stranger than fiction with a comparison of the Trump administration to the hit show ‘Stranger Things’. Buzz60
A Rhode Island Congressman compared life in America under the Trump administration to a terrifying alternate reality featured in the sci-fi series Stranger Things.
Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) stood on the House floor Thursday with a poster that read “Trump Things” in the same branding as the popular Netflix show Stranger Things.
“Like the main characters in Stranger Things, We are now stuck in the Upside Down, right is wrong, up is down, black is white,” Cicilline said.
The congressman pointed to reports that Trump campaign aids were in contact with Russia during the presidential campaign, and the President’s handling of national security issues.
“President Trump showers praise on a thug like Vladimir Putin while threatening and bullying our long-standing allies,” he said.
Cicilline noted that unlike the Netflix series, where Chief Jim Hopper comes to the rescue, no one is going to save the American public but themselves.
“This isn’t a TV show; this is real life,” he said. “We have a president unlike any we have ever known and like Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven we must remain focused on the task at hand and hold the administration accountable, so we can escape from our own version of the Upside Down.”
