On Thursday, April 7, AgSource Laboratories' staff and community partners, braving brisk spring weather, gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site of the future AgSource facility.
'We can't say enough about how much we look forward to serving clients from this new building,' said Steve Frack, AgSource Laboratories vice president, laboratory operations. 'The City of Ellsworth and the Ellsworth Development Group have been great to work with on this relocation.'
AgSource Laboratories is working in partnership with the City of Ellsworth and Ellsworth Development Group, which includes representatives from Midland Power Cooperative, Ellsworth Cooperative Telephone Association and Corn Belt Power Cooperative. The laboratory is being built by Jensen Builders, LTD of Fort Dodge and Des Moines.
AgSource will remain in Ellsworth, but move to a larger, 15,000 square foot, fully integrated facility. The new laboratory will be up and running prior to August 2016 and will be located just off Interstate 35. Since we are staying in Ellsworth, sample pick-up routes and drop-in sample deliveries won't be affected by this change.
'Jim Elliott and Jensen Builders have already begun laying the groundwork. We are excited to get this process started. We have enjoyed being a part of the Ellsworth community and this building project fully demonstrates our desire to grow with the agricultural community in the surrounding area,' said AgSource Chief Operating Officer Pat Baier. 'Having the previous land owner, Patty Yungclas, in attendance at the groundbreaking was a special treat. Patty represents the strong agricultural history of the area and this facility marks the strong future.'
