A Mukwonago couple with strong ties to the agriculture industry will show their team spirit on the popular game show Family Feud. Corey Geiger and Krista Knigge are members of the Knigge Kousins and will appear on the May 4 episode of Family Feud on May 4.

Geiger is the managing editor of Hoard's Dairyman and Knigge grew up on the family dairy farm near Omro owned by her parents, Pete and Theo Knigge and her brother, Charlie Knigge. The Knigge family also made headlines when it hosted a segment of "The Bachelor" at the farmstead.

Krista and Corey, along with two of Krista's cousins and one of their husbands, auditioned as the Knigge Kousins for the show in November of 2015. The audition was held at a Milwaukee-area hotel where hundreds of local families vied for an opportunity to appear on the most-viewed game show in the world.

"There must have been an announcement on TV one night as I was drifting to sleep. I woke up the next morning and thought, did I dream that?” said Krista Knigge who eventually became captain of the team. “I went online to confirm the Milwaukee auditions and thought, that could be fun."

The auditions were set for the opening weekend of deer hunting, so Krista figured her husband — an avid deer hunter — was out. She then called on her cousin Kelly Steelman and husband Chris Steelman of Waukesha, who were a quick yes. Another of Krista's cousins, Hannah Steen of Burlington agreed to be a part of the adventure. The team was rounded out with the cousin's aunt, Becky Gutzman.

However, the night before the audition, an early snow storm started to roll in, canceling Gutzman's plans to drive from Rio to Milwaukee. That left one slot open and Krista convinced her husband Corey to be on the team.

"Ultimately, I told him that the experience of auditioning would be unique, unlike any other story he could tell." Krista said. "Corey agreed under the condition that he would leave the audition and drive directly to his deer stand to finish his hunting season."

After making it through two levels of auditions that Saturday in November, the Knigge Kousins team was alerted they may be contacted to be on the show. The family was called in July to make plans to go to Atlanta Aug. 14-16, 2016 for taping.

“It wasn’t on my bucket list, but it is now with a big check mark by it.” Corey said. “It was a great experience and the whole family had fun."

"I highly recommend trying out,” added Says Krista.

Public viewing parties are being hosted in Mukwonago by Krista and Corey at Pam’s Fine Wines at pamsfinewines.com. Kelly and Chris are hosting a viewing party at The Neighbors Bar and Grille in Waukesha, theneighborsbarandgrille.com.

In the Milwaukee viewing area, the episode will appear on WVTV-DT (CW 18) at 6:30 p.m. For other TV viewing areas, go to Family Feud at familyfeud.com/ and click on the blue "Find Your Station" icon to find the channel and time.
