Belleville -  The Wisconsin Farm to Table organization donated proceeds from their 2016 event to the Busy Beavers 4-H Club of Belleville. On January 9, Wisconsin Farm to Table presented a check to the Busy Beavers club to celebrate their volunteer work at the Wisconsin Farm to Table event, which took place on July 30 at Sunburst Dairy, owned by Yogi and Bryan Brown.

“The Wisconsin Farm to Table events are centered around giving back to the community – through both education of local consumers as well as giving back to causes that are near and dear to the host farms,” says Kari Kuehl, Wisconsin Farm to Table founder and president. “The Farm to Table dinner host farm family chooses where proceeds from our event are donated, and this year the Brown family chose their local 4-H club, whose members and parents were incredibly helpful in setting up for the day of the event.”

The Busy Beavers 4-H Club plans to use the funds to support their organization’s youth projects and leadership development, and to purchase a commemorative bench to honor a former club member.

2016 marked the third year of Wisconsin Farm to Table hosting dinner events, which saw record attendance numbers at two locations. The Wisconsin Farm to Table dinners bring consumers and farmers together to explore the world of agriculture, focusing on animal care, environmental practices and the safe and pure food products we consume at our dinner tables throughout the year. The first dinner of 2016 was hosted on June 3 at the Penterman Farm, owned by Rolf and Marieke Penterman, followed by the Sunburst Dairy farm dinner.

The events included farm tours, along with food creations by Chef Tyler Sailsbery of The Black Sheep and Casual Joes restaurants in Whitewater, Wis. Conversation and community were generated as consumers dined on local fare, highlighted by presentations from the farmers contributing dinner ingredients.

“This was our first year of hosting two events across Wisconsin,” explains Kuehl. “We were ecstatic at the positive reception and the attendance at these events that bring the community together to educate and celebrate agriculture.”

Wisconsin Farm to Table was established in 2013 to offer an on-farm experience, including a farm tour, elegant dinner and dialogue between those interested in where their food originates and local farmers who grow and raise the food. Money raised is donated to a local non-for-profit organization selected by the host farm.
