West Allis -Two of the three grand champions in the Junior Show at the World Beef Expo were exhibited by Wisconsin youth.
Capturing grand champion honors with her Simmental in the Heifer division was Sarah Lillesand of Sheyboygan Falls, WI. Earning reserve champion honors with his Angus wa Kole Lorentz of Woodville, WI.
Grand Champion Heifer
Exhibiting a Mainetainer and winning third overall heifer was Jarek Cutler of Trimont, MN. Following Cutler with the fourth overal heifer was exhibitor McKenzie Powers, of Lancaster, OH, showing a Percentage Simmental. Rounding out the Top Five was Brandee Painter of Hebron, OH, exhibiting a Shorthorn.
Grand Champion Prospect Steer
Winning the grand championship in the Prospect Steer class was Logan Beck of Plymouth, WI. Fellow Wisconsinite Alexis Kast of Richland Center earned the runner-up finish with her young steer.
Grand Champion Market Steer
The Grand Champion Market Steer was exhibited by Lacey Schmitz of Oakes, ND, while the exibitor of the reserve champion Market Steer was Breanna Waugh of Columbia City, IN.
These youth were among the 424 exhibitors from 16 states that traveled to West Allis, WI, to participate in the World Beef Expo, one of the Midwest's largest cattle expositions. According to show organizers, there were 1,227 entries in the Open and Junior shows.
This year's World Beef Expo was the twenty-fourth anniversary. World Beef Expo also offered a variety of educational opportunities, youth sweepstakes and showmanship contest, a multi-breed sale, a trade show plus much more. People of all ages came to see, show, buy and sell cattle while enjoying a weekend of fun with friends and family!
