Heartland Farms marked the completion of its new farm operations, technology and training center with a grand opening which was attended by employees along with state and local officials.

Located at 907 3rd Avenue in Hancock, the 37,000-square-foot facility has training and conference rooms for employee training and community education, 95kV of photovoltaic solar power, office space for over 65 employees, conference and collaboration areas, employee comfort amenities and the latest technologies.  Ellis Stone Construction of Stevens Point was the general contractor for the project.

“Heartland Farms is truly a nationwide leader in producing American sustenance,” said Andrew Halverson, vice president of Business Development for Ellis Stone, at Thursday’s event.

The project is part of over $20 million the company has earmarked for long-term infrastructure projects. Heartland has also replaced a 200,000-hundredweight storage facility with a new 320,000-hundredweight facility, and is building a 75,000-square-foot grading facility.

Tracing its roots back the original farm settled in 1873 by August Pavelski, Heartland Farms is a fifth-generation irrigated potato farm operating in five Wisconsin counties, and is now the largest private employer in Adams County with around  270 full-time and seasonal employees. The company currently ships out of four locations including Almond, Amherst Junction, Hancock and Plainfield.

One of the state's largest vegetable farming operations, The company farms over 22,000 acres, produces over 225,000 tons of potatoes annually along with sweet corn, canning peas, green beans, and soybeans.  All of the vegetable crops are sold to Wisconsin food processors.

Jeremie Pavelski, president of Heartland Farms, on Thursday thanked both the vision of the founders from the Pavelski and Knights families, as well as all of their employees.

“There’s no finer team out there, and I am absolutely proud of each and every one of you,” Pavelski said.
