Sponsors organizing 25th annual Organic Farming Conference

At least 65 workshops will be offered and more than 170 exhibitors are expected for the 25th annual Organic Farming Conference to be held at the La Crosse Center on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 27-March 1. The conference is sponsored by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES).

Starting at 10 a.m., pre-conference courses will be offered on the opening day. Film screenings will be available in the afternoon, the exhibit hall and bookstore will open at 5 p.m., an organic supper will be served, and the kickoff program will feature the Farmer of the Year presentation. The 4th annual "poetry slam" will complete the evening program.

Workshops will start at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. The day's agenda also include an organic lunch and supper, keynote speakers Anna Lappe and Mark Shepard (sustainable food and permaculture advocacy), a "wine and dine" session with MOSES, and a 25th anniversary party and dance.

The concluding day will have three more concurrent workshop sessions, an address by keynote speaker Alan Guebert (a national agricultural columnist), and film screenings throughout the day. The bookstore and exhibit hall will be open until 4 p.m.

In addition to MOSES, the conference draws support and contributions from dozens of businesses and organizations. They are recognized by sponsor designations of blazing stars, sunflowers, geraniums, and daisies.
