Manitowoc County to host 2014 Alice in Dairyland at Culvers Futurity

The Manitowoc Culvers Futurity will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 starting at 7 p.m.

This Manitowoc County Fair event is a formal occasion featuring 30 topped dressed individuals exhibiting the best of all dairy cattle breeds from farms throughout the Manitowoc County. Animals are entered as young calves and shown once they are 3-year-old cows. 2015 marks the 10th year anniversary of the Culvers Futurity and new this year will be an additional showing of aged cows.

Each year, this event continues to grow and be enjoyable for all fair-goers of all ages. This is a free event to fair-goers and held in the Ice Arena Show Ring to accommodate the growing audience. Individuals showing the cattle compete for placings in the categories of: Best Bred and Owned, Highest Milk Production, and Best Dressed Individual. New this year, the audience will have the opportunity to text for the best dressed individual.

In attendance at the Futurity will be the current Alice in Dairyland, Zoey Brooks, who will also promote the 2015 Alice in Dairyland Finals that will be hosted in Manitowoc County. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear more about Wisconsin's diverse agriculture industry from Alice throughout the event.

Brooks is serving as the 67th Alice in Dairyland. As Wisconsin's agricultural ambassador she will educate all audiences about Wisconsin's $59 billion agriculture industry.

Alice in Dairyland is a one-year, full-time public relations professional employed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (WI DATCP). The position includes travel of more than 40,000 miles with an increased focus on Manitowoc County as the 2015 Alice in Dairyland finals will be held in the county, May 8-9, 2015. This will be the first time the Finals have been hosted in Manitowoc County since 1988.
