Spring Shearing Day, June 16

Sandy Ridge Farm will host the 2nd annual Spring Shearing Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 16.

This event is open to the public and the admission is free.

The public will be narrated through the steps of shearing an alpaca while Keith Bancroft, of KeLe Alpacas, shears alpacas.

The first fleece of the day will be processed into a prize that could be worn home.

The public can also try their hand at carding, spinning and weaving and see a mock fiber show.

The gift shop will carry a full line of alpaca products including gloves, scarves, hats, coats and yarn.

Kids of all ages can walk an alpaca for $2 and participate in relay races.

Other attractions include an alpaca-pulled cart, vendor fair and carriage rides.

Other types of livestock to visit include sheep, pot belly pigs, chickens, baby bunnies and peacocks,

Nearby businesses include Kraynik's Berry Farm and Greenhouse, Parallel 44 Winery & Vineyard, Konop's Meat Market, and Krohn's Dairy Store.

Sandy Ridge Farm is located about 15 miles east of Green Bay off Kewaunee Road (WI-29) at N3261 Church Road, Kewaunee.
