Pork industry scholarship recipients announced

The Pork Producers of Wisconsin Industry scholarship recipients for 2012-13 have been selected at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Platteville, and River Falls.

Each student received a $750 scholarship to assist with their college tuition.

The recipient at UW-Madison was Devan Brugger, Monroe.

She is double majoring in Animal Science with a business emphasis & Life Sciences Communication.

On campus, she is involved in UW-Saddle & Sirloin and UW-Madison Collegiate Farm Bureau.

MiAnna Woller of Belleville received the scholarship on the UW-River Falls campus.

Woller is involved with the Association of Women in Agriculture and River Falls' Collegiate Honors Society.

She is majoring in Animal Science and Agricultural Business.

Rachael Funke of Dyersville, IA, is a student at UW-Platteville, where she is majoring in Animal Science with an emphasis in science.

Upon graduation, Funke hopes to attend veterinary school.

On campus, she is involved in the Pre-Vet club, Intervarsity and the Catholic Newman Center.

The Pork Producers of Wisconsin Industry Scholarship was developed for animal science majors that demonstrate a desire to pursue a field closely related to the swine industry.

The scholarship is made available each year to sophomore, junior or senior students at each campus.
