Officials seize 12 horses
from Livingston County farm
Authorities say they seized 12 horses that were starving at a farm in Livingston County.
Livingston County Animal Control had gotten complaints in recent months about the farm in Cohoctah Township and seized the horses Tuesday (Oct. 25). Officials earlier had been investigating their condition and trying to work with the owner to ensure the horses' proper care.
The horses are expected to live with volunteers and may be adopted at some point. The Michigan Horse Welfare Coalition assisted.
The Welfare Coalition says horse bones also were found at the farm, located about 55 miles northwest of Detroit.
