Mattoon man to pay $19,000

for corn field damage

Oct. 18, 2012 | 0 comments

A judge in central Illinois has ordered a Mattoon man to pay more than $19,000 or the damage he caused while driving drunk in a corn field.

The Mattoon Journal-Gazette reports that 40-year-old Tony Osborn pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in the October 2011 incident.

In addition to the restitution, Judge James Glenn also sentenced Osborn to two years of court supervision.

He was ordered to pay a $500 fine and not use alcohol.

Police discovered the corn field damage after getting a report of a vehicle in a field just north of Mattoon.
