Local Food Means Business is a business to business networking meeting for large volume buyers and sellers of local Wisconsin food.
The purpose of the meeting is to increase local food sales and help businesses establish new partnerships.
The meeting is a collaboration between the Institutional Food Market Coalition (a Dane County UW-Extension program) and Something Special from Wisconsin.
New this year - they are partnering with the Isthmus Food & Wine Festival, which expects to draw more than 2,500 food-loving people with exhibits, demonstrations, shopping and sampling.
Local Food Means Business will take place a few hours before the Food & Wine Festival begins, in a private meeting room above the Food & Wine Festival show floor.
The organization expects about 100 buyers and sellers to attend Local Food Means Business.
After the networking time at Local Food Means Business, attending buyers will sample local products at a preview of the Food & Wine Festival, before the show opens to the general public, and then join in the fun of the festival afterward!
The meeting is intended for distributors, farmers, local food businesses, chefs, food service directors, and grocery store buyers.
The event runs from 1-5 p.m., at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison.
Pre-registration will be required and will be available starting Aug. 20 on the IFM website, www.ifmwi.org,
along with an agenda.
